Mrs. Lauren Schultz is the Media Coordinator at Independence High School and is a Media Coordinator Master Teacher for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She teaches the Integrated Technology Help Desk Course.
Originally from Connecticut, she moved to Charlotte in 2012. Mrs. Schultz has a Bachelor's Degree in Middle East Studies and Political Science from Fordham University, and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. As a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Schultz received the prestigious Sarah C. Cohen Award. In 2013, Mrs. Schultz was named a NCSLMA Emerging Leader, and since 2014, she has been a Digital Leader Coach and Mentor with the North Carolina Digital Leaders Coaching Network (NCDLCN) at NC State's Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. In 2016, she became a fellow with the School Librarians Advancing STEM Learning (SLASL) initiative with the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME). She is currently featured on Jennifer LaGarde's website "Twitter: A 140 Character Love Story", and is a CMS Bookmark. She was named Independence High School's Teacher of the Year 2015-16, and she was the recipient of the 2016 Gertrude Coward Award for distinguished service and outstanding media center programming by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Most recently, she was the recipient of the Promising Pages 2017 Bookie Award for Best Librarian in the Charlotte region. She lives in Mint Hill with her husband and her son.
